Here are a few tips and techniques I learned the hard way - by playing around with graphics programs and seeing what I got. Most of the art on these web pages was created in just this fashion. The point of putting these tips here is to show that interesting effects can be created very simply, and do not necessarily involve dozens of intricate steps. (Well, some of them don't.) Feel free to play around with any of these techniques; experiment! Most of these tips deal specifically with Picture Publisher and Kai's Power Tools. Some of them also deal specifically with Photoshop 3; those that don't can be easily adapted to it. If you don't have KPT, many of these tips won't do you much good.
